The Montreal Canadiens claimed forward Colin White off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
White did not register a point in 11 games for the Penguins this season.
The Canadiens and Penguins meet Thursday night, so White — who will play against his former teammates — won't have to go far to suit up.
The 27-year-old has played for the Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers and Penguins throughout his eight-year career. His most productive season came in 2018-19 with the Senators, where he scored 14 goals and had 24 assists for 38 points in 71 games.
Last season with the Panthers, White scored eight goals and added seven assists for 15 points in 68 games.
He was selected in the first round, 21st overall, by the Senators in the 2015 NHL Draft.
The Canadiens placed forward Brandon Gignac on waivers, intending to send him down to the Laval Rocket.
