Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin remains day-to-day but does not have a concussion, head coach Dominique Ducharme announced.
Ducharme also said that goaltender Carey Price met with the team’s athletic therapists on Sunday and was encouraged by the progress he made in his recovery from his off-season knee injury. He is expected to return to the team’s practice facility on Tuesday and the team has no concrete plan for when he will play.
Drouin was injured after a shot from a teammate hit him in the head during Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings. Midway through the first period, a shot from Canadiens defenceman Brett Kulak struck Drouin, who was standing in front of the Red Wings goal. Drouin was able to skate off the ice under his own power but immediately went down the tunnel to the Canadiens’ dressing room.
Price voluntarily entered the NHL’s player assistance program on Oct. 7. The assistance program, jointly run by the league and the NHL Players’ Association, helps players and their families with mental health, substance abuse and other matters.
Forward Christian Dvorak was also absent from practice and Ducharme said it wasn’t a guarantee that he would play on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings.
