The Montreal Canadiens announced Thursday that forwards Kirby Dach and Brendan Gallagher will miss time with lower-body injuries.
Dach has been out of the lineup since Feb. 16 with what was originally determined to be a non-COVID-related illness. Further testing has revealed that his illness-like symptoms were related to a lower-body injury with no timeline set for his return.
Gallagher last played on Jan. 3 with a lower-body injury that was supposed to keep him out for at least six weeks. Gallager also missed a month in December with a lower-body injury.
The 30-year-old Edmonton native has four goals and five assists in 25 games for the Canadiens this season.
The Canadiens also announced that Arber Xhekaj had shoulder surgery and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. The 22-year-old initially suffered the injury in a fight with Edmonton Oilers defenceman Vincent Desharnais.
In his first NHL season, the 22-year-old had five goals and eight assists in 51 games.
