Montreal Canadiens rookie defenceman Kaiden Guhle will be sidelined for at least eight weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Friday.
Guhle has been out of the lineup since Dec. 29 after getting tangled up with Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov.
The 16th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Guhle has produced two goals and 14 points in 36 games with the Canadiens this season.
The team also announced that forward Brendan Gallagher will be out of the lineup for a minimum two weeks with a lower-body injury.
Gallagher appeared to sustain a lower-body injury during practice in Nashville on Jan. 2 but played in the Canadiens' 6-3 loss to the Predators. He was held out of the lineup against the New York Rangers on Thursday.
The 30-year-old has struggled to stay healthy, missing 12 consecutive games with a lower-body injury. He made his return to the Canadiens lineup on December 29.
Gallagher, the 147th overall pick in 2010 for the Canadiens, has scored four goals and notched nine points in 25 games this season.
