Canadiens ink forward Anthony Richard to two-way deal

Faizal Khamisa and Eric Engels recap a quiet Day 1 from Canadiens GM Kent Hughes' camp, which isn't surprising at all, and discuss a few moves that they can make to free up some cap space, in order to improve this current roster.

Forward Anthony Richard signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Montreal Canadiens on the opening day of free agency, the team announced.

The centre spent the 2021-22 campaign in the AHL split between Syracuse Crunch and Milwaukee Admirals after his NHL rights were traded by the Nashville Predators to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Jimmy Huntington in February.

Richard, 25, had 17 goals and 21 assists in 71 AHL agmes one season ago. The Trois-Rivieres, Que., only has two games of NHL experience, both spent with Nashville, one in 2018 and one in 2019.

Montreal also added forward Mitchell Stephens and defenceman Madison Bowey to one-year, two-way deals on Wednesday.
