Montreal Canadiens forward Joshua Roy will be sidelined for four-to-six weeks with an upper-body injury.
Roy left Tuesday's game against the Edmonton Oilers and later returned to Montreal for further evaluation.
The team did not disclose the nature of his injury, though it appeared to happen midway through the third period of the Canadiens' overtime loss, when the forward blocked a shot from defenceman Evan Bouchard. Roy remained on the bench.
The 20-year-old has been one of the many young players developing with the Canadiens system. He's split the 2023-24 season between the Canadiens and Laval Rocket, scoring four goals and nine points with the big club, and 32 points in 40 games with Laval.
He was selected 150th overall by the Canadiens in the 2021 NHL Draft.
