Montreal Canadiens defenceman Kaiden Guhle left Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Wild and will not return, the club announced.
After the game — which the Wild won 5-2 — the Canadiens said Guhle had an upper-body injury. He is still undergoing evaluations.
Guhle, 21, missed the final month of last season with a high-ankle sprain and missed two games in March with an upper-body injury.
Despite playing 44 games last season, Guhle managed to score four goals and 18 points while averaging over 20 minutes per game.
This has the potential to be yet another blow to the Canadiens' young core, after forward Kirby Dach suffered a torn ACL and MCL on Oct. 14 and has been shut down for the season.
Guhle, an Edmonton native, was selected 16th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Canadiens and is expected to be a figure on the blue line for this rebuilding team.
