Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks after suffering a lower-body injury, the club announced.
The injury happened late in the first period, when Blackhawks' defenceman Jarred Tinordi laid a hit on Dach that sent him into the Blackhawks bench. Dach returned to the ice briefly before heading to the locker room.
Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis told reporters after the game that he had no update on Dach's status and believes he will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
Dach, 22, was drafted by the Blackhawks and played with the club for three years, but was dealt to the Canadiens at the 2022 NHL Draft as part of a three-team trade.
Across 59 games with the Canadiens, Dach has scored 14 goals and 40 points.
