Montreal Canadiens forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi has been removed from the NHL’s COVID protocols but his teammate, Joel Armia, remained on the list as of Monday evening.
Eric Staal, who was recently acquired from the Buffalo Sabres and is serving his government-mandated quarantine, is on the list as well. Staal begin the seven-day quarantine on Saturday.
The addition of Kotkaniemi and Armia to the protocols list last Monday prompted the postponement of all Canadiens activities for a week, including a pair of games against the Edmonton Oilers and one against the Ottawa Senators.
The games, which have since been rescheduled, were the first North Division games to be impacted by the league’s health and safety protocols.
In 31 appearances this season, Kotkaniemi has four goals and 11 assists. The Canadiens next play on Tuesday against the Oilers.
