Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Newhook left Thursday's game against the Florida Panthers after appearing to suffer a lower-body injury.
The injury occurred early into the third period when the 22-year-old lost an edge and slid feet-first into the net. He was helped off the ice by training staff and didn't look to be placing any weight on his left leg.
There was no update on Newhook after the Canadiens' 5-1 loss but head coach Martin St. Louis said he'd be re-evaluated Friday.
Newhook was acquired by the Canadiens in the off-season in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a first- and second-round pick and a prospect. He's scored seven goals and 13 points in 22 games for the Canadiens this season.
The St. Johns native was selected 16th overall by the Avalanche in the 2019 NHL Draft.
