Montreal Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis believes captain Nick Suzuki (upper-body injury) will be ready for Wednesday's season opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The club announced Suzuki was day-to-day with the injury on Wednesday.
St. Louis made his comments on Suzuki on Thursday before the Canadiens' pre-season game against the Ottawa Senators in Gander, N.L.
Suzuki was named captain of the Canadiens this summer.
The native of London, Ont., had 21 goals and 40 assists in 82 games last year.
