The Montreal Canadiens placed forward Evgenii Dadonov on injured reserve on Thursday.
Dadonov, who has zero points in eight games this season, has been out of the lineup due to an undisclosed injury.
The 33-year-old from Chelyabinsk, Russia, was traded to the Canadiens from the Vegas Golden Knights on June 16 for Shea Weber's contract.
Dadonov has 124 goals and 265 points over nine seasons with the Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Golden Knights and Canadiens.
Meanwhile, defenceman Joel Edmundson is a game-time decision to make his season debut Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets.
Edmundson has been out of the lineup since the start of training camp due to a back injury.
Goaltender Sam Montembeault is expected to start in net for the Canadiens (5-5-0).
