Canadiens place goaltender Cayden Primeau on waivers

The Montreal Canadiens have put goaltender Cayden Primeau on waivers for the purpose of loaning him to the AHL's Laval Rocket, the team announced Saturday.

Primeau has a 2-3-1 record, 4.70 goals-against average and .836 save percentage over 11 games with the Canadiens this season.

His most recent appearance came Dec. 12, allowing three goals on seven shots in relief of starter Sam Montembeault during a 9-2 loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 25-year-old Primeau was drafted in the seventh round, 199th overall, by the Canadiens in 2017.

He posted an 8-9-4 record, 2.99 GAA and .910 save percentage in 23 games last season.

Montreal recalled goaltender Jakub Dobes from Laval on Friday.
