Montreal Canadiens forward Ryan Poehling will miss the remainder of the 2020-21 season after suffering a wrist injury, the club has announced.
Poehling’s injury will require surgery, after which time an update on his recovery timeline will be provided, according to the team.
Poehling, 22, has spent the campaign with the club’s AHL affiliate in Laval, notching 11 goals and 25 points through 28 games this season.
The 2017 first-round pick (25th overall) has yet to appear in an NHL game for Montreal this season, but skated in 27 big-league games last season, posting two points in that span. The Lakeville, Minn., native famously tallied a hat trick in his NHL debut during the 2018-29 season.
