The Montreal Canadiens announced Friday they have recalled forward Emil Heineman from the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis.
Heineman made his NHL debut just before the Christmas break, appearing in two games with the Canadiens before being sent back down to Laval.
He has two goals and four assists in 10 games with the Rocket this season.
The 22-year-old from Leksand, Sweden, was drafted in the second round, 43rd overall, by the Florida Panthers in 2020.
He was traded to the Calgary Flames in April 2021 in the deal that sent Sam Bennett to Florida. Montreal acquired Heineman from Calgary in February 2022 in a package for Tyler Toffoli.
The Canadiens (16-17-5, sixth in the Atlantic Division) next play host to the New York Rangers on Saturday night.
