The Montreal Canadiens have signed newly acquired forward Alex Newhook to a four-year, $11.6-million deal, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal carries an annual average value of $2.9 million.
Newhook, 22, was acquired by trade back on June 27 from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for the 31st and 37th picks in the 2023 NHL Draft and defenceman Gianni Fairbrother.
Newhook tallied 66 points (27 goals, 39 assists) in 159 games for the Avalanche.
He was selected by Colorado as the 16th overall pick in the 2019 draft.
The new deal is a nice raise for Newhook, who earned $925,000 last season with the Avalanche.
The Boston College product had four points in 12 games on Colorado’s 2022 Stanley Cup run.
