The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Emil Heineman to a three-year entry-level contract that will begin next season.
Heineman, 20, was acquired from the Calgary Flames as part of the Tyler Toffoli trade in February.
A six-foot-one winger, Heineman scored 11 goals and 16 points in 38 games with Leksands of the Swedish Hockey League. Over three seasons in the SHL he had 18 goals and 31 points in 92 games.
The contract will pay Heineman $750,000 next season and $832,500 in 2023-24 and 2024-25. It also includes a signing bonus of $92,500 for each year of the contract. At the AHL level, Heineman's salary will be $80,000. He will sign a try-out contract and report to AHL Laval for the remainder of this campaign.
He was originally a second-round pick by the Florida Panthers in 2020.
