The Vancouver Canucks are taking advantage of the proximity of their newest neighbour in the northwest.
The team announced on Tuesday that it will participate in a two-game prospects showcase with the Seattle Kraken in September 2025.
It will be the first tournament in a multi-year agreement between the two franchises, with the first iteration taking place in Seattle, and the second in Abbotsford, B.C., in 2026.
This new venue and format will replace the Canucks' previous prospects tournament, the Young Stars Classic, which was held in Penticton, B.C., at the Okanagan Events Centre.
The tournament was previously held between the Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Winnipeg Jets. However, the Canucks said in a statement that they "were unable to secure commitments from the other teams for next fall," but that they "will explore other opportunities with the city (of Penticton) and (have) not closed the door on participating in a Young Stars tournament in future years."
