Jonathan Lekkerimäki's time with the big club has come to an end, for now.
Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced Thursday that the star prospect has been assigned back to AHL Abbotsford and forward Max Sasson has been recalled in his place.
Lekkerimäki, 20, made his NHL debut on Nov. 12 against the Calgary Flames. He appeared in five games with the Canucks and recorded one goal.
The Swedish forward was the Canucks' 15th overall selection in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Sasson, 24, has four goals and five assists in 16 games with Abbotsford this season.
