The Vancouver Canucks took care of some bookkeeping on Tuesday.
Vancouver assigned defenceman Mark Friedman and goaltender Arturs Silovs to AHL Abbotsford, and in a corresponding move, recalled forwards Linus Karlsson and Phillip Di Giuseppe, the team announced.
Silovs and Friedman were recalled from Abbotsford on Saturday, with the former being brought in on an emergency basis using the goaltender exemption.
Silovs, after making his mark in the post-season last year, has struggled in his time with the Canucks this season, logging a 1-4-1 record with a 4.11 goals-against average and .847 save percentage in seven games played.
Since returning to the AHL, the Latvian netminder has put up a 2-0-0 record with a 1.51 GAA and .929 save percentage.
Friedman has made three starts with Vancouver this season but has yet to log a point. He has a goal and three assists in eight games with Abbotsford.
Karlsson, meanwhile, has had a solid year in Abbotsford, netting five goals and one assist in seven games. He has yet to make an appearance in Vancouver this season after playing in four regular-season and two playoff games last year — going without a point in the six outings.
Di Giuseppe, on the other hand, has yet to tally a point in his four AHL games this season. The 31-year-old was a regular presence in Vancouver last season, putting up five goals and five assists in 51 appearances with the club. He was placed on waivers for the purpose of re-assignment at the start of this season.
The Canucks are set to take on the Utah Hockey Club on Wednesday night.
