Vancouver Canucks defenceman Tucker Poolman will not play this season, general manager Patrik Allvin said Wednesday.
Poolman has been dealing with neurological complications from migraines which have hampered him since the 2021-22 season.
He played in only three games last season with his last appearance coming on Oct. 18, 2022, against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Canucks initially released a statement saying Poolman would miss training camp, but Allvin later confirmed in a press conference that the defenceman will miss the entire season.
“We will continue to support and work with him in his recovery," Allvin said in a statement. "This is a very unfortunate situation and we feel for Tucker and all that he has gone through in dealing with his issues. Not being able to play the game because of circumstances beyond your control is never easy, and we hope Tucker returns to health soon.”
Poolman signed a four-year deal with the Canucks back in 2021 after spending four seasons with the Winnipeg Jets, who drafted the defenceman in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL Draft.
