Vancouver Canucks defenceman Tyler Myers is dealing with a lower-body injury that will keep him out week-to-week, head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters Saturday.
Myers has not missed a game this season averaging 18:57 of ice time while registering four goals and 23 points in 62 games.
The move will impact the Canucks' penalty killing as Myers is second on the team in overall time on the shorthanded unit.
In some good news for Vancouver, defenceman Carson Soucy was a full participant at practice. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since Jan. 20 with a broken knuckle.
The team also announced later on Saturday that they recalled defenceman Matt Irwin and forward Vasily Podkolzin from their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks.
Irwin, 36, has recorded 10 points (three goals and seven assists) in 46 games with Abbotsford this season. Meanwhile, Podkolzin, 22, has collected 28 points (15 goals and 13 assists) in 44 games. Neither player has appeared at the NHL level yet this season.
