  • Canucks' Elias Pettersson day-to-day with injury from 4 Nations

Elias Pettersson may not be available right away for the Vancouver Canucks as the NHL schedule resumes after a two-week pause.

Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet announced that Pettersson is day-to-day with an injury suffered while playing for Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Additionally, captain Quinn Hughes remains out as he works his way back from an injury that prevented him from playing for the United States at the event.

Both Pettersson and Hughes left Canucks practice early on Friday.

It's unclear how Pettersson was injured. He played in all three games for Sweden, recording zero points. The 26-year-old has 11 points and 34 points in 49 games this season.

Hughes was injured one week before the tournament began during a game against the Dallas Stars and has already missed four games for the Canucks. He leads the Canucks in scoring with 59 points in 47 games.

The Canucks return from the break with a five-game road trip, beginning in Vegas against the Golden Knights Saturday on Hockey Night in Canada.
