Canucks' Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes out vs. Kraken

Vancouver will be without two top players for at least a little while.

Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters on Saturday that captain Quinn Hughes and forward Elias Pettersson are both out for Saturday's game against the Seattle Kraken. Tocchet added post-game that no there hasn't been a decision regarding timelines for the two All-Stars.

“It’s hard to speculate,” Tocchet said when asked when either player might return. “I don’t know if it’s daily or weekly.”

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman did report on his Saturday Headlines segment of Hockey Night in Canada that the injuries to the two superstars aren't considered serious.

Hughes played after being a game-time decision for the Canucks' last game on Monday against the San Jose Sharks.

Pettersson broke out of a seven-game scoring drought with a pair of goals in Vancouver’s 4-3 win over the Sharks. He played briefly in the third before leaving the bench.
