Vancouver Canucks star Elias Pettersson has resumed shooting after a wrist injury forced him to miss the final 30 games of the season.
In a video posted to his Twitter account Wednesday, Pettersson can be seen shooting in an off-ice area. The caption reads “Back to shooting again, felt really good!”
Pettersson hyperextended his wrist, an injury which didn’t require surgery, after his stick hit a shin pad during a 4-0 win against the Winnipeg Jets on March 1. He played in the Canucks’ game the next day, a 5-2 loss to the Jets, and didn’t suit up again.
The 22-year-old previously said he expected to be healthy in time to start next season, but that he was still experiencing difficulties shooting the puck.
“It’s the shooting that’s been bothering me, to flex the stick,” he said. “Training is fine. It’s more on ice that’s bothering me the most, but training-wise it’s fine.”
Pettersson, who can become a restricted free agent on Jul 28, scored 10 goals and added 11 assists in 26 games last season. In both of his first two NHL seasons, including his Calder-winning rookie campaign, Pettersson scored 66 points.
