  • Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko will not play in Game 7

Vancouver Canucks injured starter Thatcher Demko will not be available to play in Monday's Game 7 showdown against the Edmonton Oilers, head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters on Saturday.

The 28-year-old Vezina Trophy finalist was injured in Game 1 against the Nashville Predators and hasn't seen game action since. Backup goaltender Casey DeSmith started two games in the first round (one win, one loss) before AHL call-up Arturs Silovs took over the net.

The Canucks have not disclosed what injury Demko has, nor the extent, but classified him as week-to-week on April 23.

The San Diego native has been a limited participant in Canucks' practices, but coaching staff have been cautious with his return.

Demko started 51 games for the Canucks during the regular season, posting a .918 save percentage and a 2.45 goals-against average (35 wins, 14 losses and five shutouts) to help the Canucks win the Pacific Division.

You can watch Game 7 between the Canucks and Oilers on Monday at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
