The Vancouver Canucks have loaned Spencer Martin to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks after he cleared waivers on Tuesday. Goaltender Arturs Silovs has been recalled from the AHL in a corresponding move as the club prepares for Thatcher Demko's return from injury.
Martin began the year as Demko's primary backup but struggled once his load increased when Demko was injured on Dec. 1. In 29 appearances this season, Martin has an 11-15-1 record with a .871 save percentage.
Demko was a full participant in practice with the Canucks on Tuesday but is not expected to be cleared to play Wednesday when Vancouver hosts the New York Rangers.
Collin Delia is in line to be the Canucks' starter until Demko is ready to play again.
