The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly looking to receive three players, including a top prospect, in any potential trade involving Bo Horvat, according to Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek.
“There was a lot of talk about this (potential asking price) in the last 24 to 48 hours,” Elliotte Friedman said Saturday while providing an update to trade discussions involving the Canucks captain during the 32 Thoughts segment of Hockey Night in Canada.
While Friedman noted that no deal appears imminent, the Canucks are currently figuring out which teams might be willing to consider the asking price.
No specific suitors were mentioned, although Friedman said Friday that Seattle and Minnesota were two Western Conference that may be interested in Horvat.
The 27-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent with a cap hit of $5.5 million, and the return package for him would differ depending on whether an acquiring team was allowed to negotiate an extension or if it were a rental situation.
Horvat had 30 goals in 45 games entering Saturday’s action and was selected ninth-overall by the Canucks in the 2009 NHL Draft.
