The Vancouver Canucks have placed forward Dakota Joshua on long-term injured reserve retroactively, general manager Patrik Allvin announced Tuesday.
Allvin also announced that goaltender Arturs Silovs has been recalled from AHL Abbotsford on an emergency basis.
Joshua hasn't played since Feb. 13 when he suffered an upper-body injury in a 4-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Before the injury, the 27-year-old forward was playing some of the best hockey of his career. In 53 games, Joshua has recorded 13 goals and 13 assists playing primarily on the Canucks' third line.
Silovs joins the big club with all-star goalie Thatcher Demko expected to "miss a little bit of time." Casey DeSmith is expected to handle the majority of the team's starts with Demko sidelined.
In 33 games with Abbotsford this season, Silovs has a 15-11-6 record with a .907 save percentage and 2.74 goals-against average.
