Vancouver Canucks defenceman Tucker Poolman has been suspended two games after an incident in Thursday’s 7-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
Midway through the third period, after Avalanche forward Kiefer Sherwood hit Poolman with a body check, Poolman swung his stick and connected with Sherwood’s head. Poolman was given a 10-minute match penalty and ejected from the game as a result.
Sherwood fell to the ice after the stick hit him but remained in the game.
The suspension is Poolman’s first in his four-year career.
