Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes put his name among the elites on Tuesday.
With three assists in the Canucks' 5-1 over the Anaheim Ducks, Hughes reached the 300 career assist milestone and did so at a remarkable pace.
Hughes reached the mark in his 376th career game, making him the third fastest defenceman to hit 300 assists in NHL history. The Canucks star was slower than only the great Bobby Orr (346 games) and Brian Leetch (368 games).
Hughes won last season's Norris Trophy as the league's top defenceman after a stellar campaign that saw him record 17 goals and 75 assists while playing in all 82 regular season games. In his 376 career games, he has 45 goals to go along with the 300 assists.
This season, Hughes has two goals and 10 assists in the Canucks' first 11 games.
