Vancouver Canucks star defenceman Quinn Hughes is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury, head coach Bruce Boudreau announced after the game on Saturday night.
The 23-year-old missed the home opener against the Buffalo Sabres after being listed as a game-time decision ahead of the tilt. The Canucks went on to lose the game 5-1 and remain the only team left in the NHL without a win.
When asked for a timeline on Hughes' return, Boudreau said it was "not a long-term thing."
Hughes is currently second in the NHL for time-on-ice per game at 27:13, second only to the Los Angeles Kings' Drew Doughty.
The Canucks play again on Monday against the Carolina Hurricanes, who come to Vancouver with a 3-1-1 record following a loss against the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
