  • Canucks re-assign Arshdeep Bains to AHL

The Vancouver Canucks have re-assigned forward Arshdeep Bains to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks, general manager Patrik Allvin announced Friday.

Bains has appeared in five games for the Canucks since his recall, starting on the third line with Conor Garland and Teddy Blueger, but quickly earning a spot on the first line with J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser and time on the power play.

Bains has been held pointless in those five games and the Canucks have gone 1-3-1 in that span.

Bains is waiver-exempt, so he will report to the Abbotsford Canucks immediately.

At the AHL level, Bains has been scoring at a near point-per-game clip with nine goals and 39 points in 42 games. He recently earned MVP honours at the AHL All-Star Challenge.

The undrafted 23-year-old played his way to an entry-level contract after exploding for 112 points in 68 games during his overage year in the WHL playing for the Red Deer Rebels. The Surrey, B.C. native signed with the Canucks in March of 2022.
