The Vancouver Canucks recalled forward Vasily Podkolzin from AHL Abbotsford on Monday, general manager Patrik Allvin announced.
In a corresponding move, the Canucks assigned defencemen Akito Hirose and Cole McWard back to Abbotsford.
Podkolzin had four goals and three assists in 39 games for the Canucks last season. The 22-year-old forward was selected 10th overall by the Canucks in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Hirose had three assists in seven regular-season games for the Canucks last season.
McWard, 22, had one goal in five games with the big club in 2022-23.
The Canucks open the regular season against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.
