Canucks sign WHL leading scorer Arshdeep Bains to entry-level deal

The Vancouver Canucks have signed WHL leading scorer Arshdeep Bains to an entry-level contract, the team announced on Friday.

In 55 games this season for the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League, Bains, 21, has 30 goals and 52 assists for a league-leading 82 points. A native of Surrey, B.C., Bains is also the first player of South Asian descent to lead the WHL in points.

Bains, a free agent, was not drafted by an NHL club.
