Vancouver Canucks defenceman left Sunday's game against the Montreal Canadiens with a lower-body injury after blocking a shot in the second period, the team announced.
Soucy blocked a shot from Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky early in the second period and appeared shaken up. Struggling to get off the ice, Soucy remained on the bench but did not take another shift. He went to the locker room shortly after.
The team confirmed at the start of the third period that Soucy would not return, but did not disclose anything else about the injury.
Head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters after the game that Soucy would be evaluated when the team returns to Vancouver.
Soucy, 29, joined the Canucks in free agency and inked a three-year, $9.75 million contract. In 12 games, he's scored two goals and five points.
