Vancouver Canucks defenceman Carson Soucy has now been listed as week-to-week after suffering an undisclosed injury against the Calgary Flames on Friday, head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters on Sunday.
"I don't think it's too long," Tocchet said of Soucy's absence. "But if I had to say it would be week-to-week."
Given his injury, Soucy will likely not dress in the Canucks' season opener on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
The incident happened late in the second period when Soucy got caught up along the boards with Flames forward Yegor Sharangovich and fell to the ice. He remained on the bench, but ultimately headed to the locker room and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Soucy, 28, joined the Canucks on a three-year, $9.75-million contract in the off-season after being in Seattle for the past two seasons. He scored three goals and had 16 points last season.
He scored his first goal as a Canuck in their 2-1 pre-season loss to the Kraken.
Friday's game against the Flames was the Canucks' last pre-season game before beginning their regular season against the Edmonton Oilers.
