Canucks trade defenceman Riley Stillman to Sabres for forward prospect

The Vancouver Canucks have traded defenceman Riley Stillman to the Buffalo Sabres for teenage forward prospect Josh Bloom.

Stillman, who was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in October, is a 24-year-old defensive defenceman who will add depth to a Sabres team looking to snap the longest playoff drought in the NHL.

Stillman is signed through the 2023-24 season with a $1.35-million cap hit. He has five assists in 32 games this season.

Bloom, 19, currently is playing in the OHL with the North Bay Battalion. In 59 games with North Bay and Saginaw this season he has 26 goals and 58 points. The Sabres selected Bloom in the third round, 95th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft.
