Washington Capitals right winger Connor Brown will be out six to eight months after undergoing reconstructive surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, the team announced on Tuesday.
Brown was injured Oct. 17 on a hit from Vancouver Canucks defencemen Noah Juulsen in a game the Capitals went on to win 6-4.
The Toronto native had no points in four games this season but has 216 career points in 448 games played.
Brown was acquired from Ottawa over the summer in the hopes that the power forward could help fill the void left by injured Capitals player Tom Wilson, who is sidelined after tearing an ACL.
