A few Washington Capitals players will need to deal with significant injuries during the off-season.
After their elimination to the Florida Panthers in Round 1, Tom Wilson, Carl Hagelin, Nicklas Backstrom and T.J Oshie revealed injuries they played with during the playoffs.
Wilson said he had a "pretty significant" knee injury but did not want to elaborate on the details after he was asked about a potential ACL tear.
"My summer sucks now," he added.
Hagelin cleared up the details of a spine-chilling eye injury sustained during a freak accident in practice. The winger ruptured his left eye choroid, a part of the eye that contains blood vessels and connective tissue, after getting hit in the eye with a stick.
The 33-year-old Swede added that his vision will "never be 100 percent" but isn't considering retirement.
"Right when it happened, it sounded like they might have to almost get in and remove the eye," he said.
Backstrom said that "we have some decisions to make" during the off-season regarding a hip injury. The centreman said this was the same injury that had bothered him last season.
"The hip's not going to be 100 per cent. That's something we all know. Some days are good, some days are less good. That's just life," he said.
Oshie shared that he played his season through a broken foot, sustained early in the campaign, and back issues. The winger downplayed any potential surgery.
