The Washington Capitals loaned forward Connor McMichael to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League on Sunday.
McMichael has struggled this season, recording zero points in six games.
The 21-year-old from Ajax, Ont., had nine goals and nine assists in 68 games during his rookie campaign last year.
Drafted in the first round (25th overall) by the Capitals in 2019, McMichael represented Canada twice at the World Junior Championship, capturing gold in 2020 and silver in 2021.
The Capitals (7-10-3) are seventh in the Metropolitan Division with 17 points and are in the midst of a four-game losing streak. They next play host to the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.
