Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie exited Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning after suffering what appeared to be a lower-body injury.
The incident occurred in the third period as Oshie tried to curl back past the blue line. He looked to be in severe pain after the move, going down to the ice and attempting to crawl back to his team's bench.
There was no contact prior to the injury.
Head coach Spencer Carbery said he remains concerned about Oshie's injury and will know once the team can re-evaluate.
After the game, Oshie wrote on X "I'll be back" in response to a team victory post.
Oshie missed 11 games from Dec. 17 to Jan. 7 with a lower-body injury and was placed on the injury reserve earlier this season.
The 37-year-old has dealt with injuries in recent years and hasn't reached the 60-game mark in a season since 2019-20.
He currently has 10 goals and 17 points for the Capitals this season and netted his sixth career hat trick in a Jan. 18 win over the St. Louis Blues.
This was Oshie's 996th NHL game, only four away from hitting the 1,000 mark. Following the Capitals' game against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, Feb. 17, he said that reaching the 1,000 game mark was one of his goals coming into the season.
The Washington Capitals are currently 25-21-8 and sit in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division.
