Washington Capitals right winger T.J. Oshie left Wednesday's pre-season game against the Detroit Red Wings in the second period with an upper-body injury, the team announced.
The Capitals say Oshie will be re-evaluated on Thursday.
The 35-year-old was hit into the boards by Detroit's Joe Veleno before heading to the locker room.
Following the Capitals 4-2 win, head coach Peter Laviolette informed the media that Oshie's exit was not precautionary and confirmed he did in fact sustain an injury.
This upcoming season, Oshie will be playing his 15th season in the NHL, and his eighth with the Capitals. The 24th overall pick in the 2005 Draft picked up 11 goals and 14 assists in 44 games last season.
