Former Anaheim Ducks forward Sonny Milano will sign a one-year, one-way contract worth $750,000 with the Washington Capitals, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported during the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada.
The Capitals confirmed the news Sunday.
The 26-year-old has played 197 career NHL games split between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Ducks.
Milano signed a professional tryout with the Calgary Flames, but he was released on Oct. 6. He will need to clear waivers and will likely start with the Capitals' AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
Last season with the Ducks, Milano recorded 14 goals and 34 points in 66 games, including scoring off Trevor Zegras' famous lacrosse-style pass over the net.
