The Washington Capitals will not have a key part of their blue line for their final push to the playoffs.
Defenceman Rasmus Sandin left Sunday's overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators with an upper-body injury. After the game, head coach Spencer Carbery confirmed Sandin will "miss some time."
Sandin averages 21:07 of ice time per game, second-most on the Capitals and has 23 points in 68 games this season.
The Capitals now have 83 points on the season and trail the Red Wings by one point for the final playoff spot in the East. Those two teams will clash on Tuesday in Detroit.
