Capitals sign Zac Funk to three-year, entry-level contract

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Zac Funk to a three-year, entry-level contract worth $2.43 million at the NHL level, general manager Brian MacLellan announced Friday.

Funk, who plays for the Prince George Cougars in the WHL, is the league's leading goal scorer with 56 markers in 58 games. In that span, he's notched 99 points.

The undrafted 20-year-old has appeared in 218 WHL games between the Cougars and Calgary Hitmen, where he's scored 108 goals and notched 95 assists.
