In honour of Black History Month, the Washington Capitals will wear special warmup jerseys during their Black history night vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
The jerseys, featuring a Players Against Hate end racism shoulder patch, will also be auctioned to benefit the Washington Capitals Capital Impact Fund. Special autographed pucks and other signed merchandise will be part of the auction as well.

The team’s Capital Impact Fund, launched prior to the 2020-21 season, is a program dedicated to eliminating cost barriers faced by local youth minority hockey players. The fund also aims to “help minority youth players reach their greatest potential and will help create more equal playing fields for all.”
The Capitals (9-5-4) will try to avenge their overtime loss to the Penguins (10-6-1) on Tuesday night.
