Zach Hyman showed what playoff hockey is all about on Tuesday.
The Edmonton Oilers forward scored a bizarre goal in Game 5 against the Los Angeles Kings when a Evan Bouchard blast from the point went off the side of his face and got past Pheonix Copley to give his team a 5-2 lead in the second period.
Hyman appeared to be trying to turn away from the "Bouch bomb" as he turned his head, but things worked out for the best -- if you're an Oiler fan. The gritty Oilers winger was back for his next shift.
The goal came hours after Brock Nelson of the New York Islanders scored when he batted in an airborne puck after that had bounced off the face of Sebastian Aho of the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Oilers, meanwhile, went on to win 6-3 and now lead the series 3-2.
“I’ll take that tradeoff any day for a goal," Hyman said.
Here's a sampling of the reaction to Hyman's goal on Twitter.
