The build around Connor Bedard has officially begun.
The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with defenceman Alec Martinez, signing him on a one-year, $4 million deal, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reported Monday.
Martinez, 36, is a three-time Stanley Cup winner, most recently hoisting it with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023. He won his two previous cups with the Los Angeles Kings in 2012 and 2014.
The Rochester Hills, Mich. native tallied four goals and 13 assists in 55 games this season but dealt with a lower-body injury, forcing him to miss 27 games.
Over the course of the Golden Knights' Stanley Cup run, Martinez notched two goals and five assists in 22 games while putting up a +13 plus/minus.
