The Colorado Avalanche have signed veteran forward Miles Wood to a six-year, $15-million deal, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday.
The deal comes with an annual average salary of $2.5 million.
Wood, 27, was given permission by the New Jersey Devils to speak with other teams ahead of free agency. The gritty forward provided the Devils with secondary scoring punch and tenacity throughout his time with the club, with whom he has spent his entire eight-year career with.
Missing nearly the entirety of the 2021-22 season after undergoing hip surgery, the Buffalo, N.Y., native returned to form this past season, accumulating 13 goals and 27 points, while also racking up a team-high 76 PIMs in 76 games.
Over the course of his career, Wood has provided an effective blend of scoring touch and heaviness, recording double digit goals and at least 57 penalty minutes in five of his six full seasons.
